Can Westfield make a success of its new online mall?Westfield’s online debut has been so long coming that that competitors, like eBay Australia, have been mocking the company in a current outdoor display advertising campaign (see it at Westfield, buy it online at eBay”).And its new online mall is hardly an innovative or indeed even a particularly attractive online destination.Moreover it has some unusual features that may even cause difficulties for those retailers participating.For example the terms and conditions make it clear that delivery arrangements are entirely the responsibility of the participating retailers.And that payments will be deducted from online shoppers credit-cards as soon as items are shipped.
